World Cat Federation (WCF)

WCF (World Cat Federation) was founded in 1988 in Rio-de Janeiro (Brazil) by three clubs that strived for a better democracy in the organization system. At present more than 540 clubs in the world are WCF members and their amount is growing.

All WCF members, either clubs or federations, work independently but follow common breed standards and common show rules, the rules of cattery registration, steward, assistant and international judge training.

WCF takes an active part in the political life, e.g. consults the European Parliament (Strasburg) on the creation of the law system concerning animals. The WCF government is an international body consisting of representatives from many countries. It is elected at The General Assembly in different countries every 2 years.

WCF closely cooperates with other felinological federations and is a member of WCC (World Cat Congress). The WCF headquarters is in Germany, Essen. The official languages are German, English and French.

The refereeing is held according to the European system; the animal is examined and described anonymously at the judge table (desk). The judge report is filled for each animal where basic parameters of the standard are listed (head, eyes, ears, body, hair, color and condition). The points of an animal depend on the degree of correspondence to the standard. She-cats and he-cats are examined separately. There is a differentiation between colors and champion status. It means that the competition is organized between the animals of the same sex, color and title at the point of time.     
The Burmese are divided according to the hair color during the expertise. WCF recognizes 10 colors. Each animal gets the highest point in its color division.

• World Champion (WCH)

The Best nomination doesn’t influence the title achievement.

According to WCF:

The Burmese are examined within one breed. The best animal is chosen in each color division. The best animal in the breed is chosen from all the participants. The Burmese get points and titles according to the rules common for all the breeds.

The Bombays are examined within the breed accordingly. The standard in color for the breed is only black.

The Asians are examined as the Burmese.
